Piloting workshops InterGenic
We have started piloting the methodology we developed over the past 6 months. Within InterGenic we have prepared methodology for different topics that seniors from 7 EU countries found relevant and useful, and young people will deliver them - training seniors to increase their digital skills. Some have already started

AI for Everyday Life: A Workshop in Spain
The UJI team of the InterGenic project carried out piloting sessions in early February to assess how senior and young mentors have embraced their roles and facilitated training sessions for the other generation. One of the most remarkable aspects was the high level of participation in all sessions. A significant number of young participants were eager to learn how to create a 'gegant' (a traditional figure from local festivities) using recycled materials, while many seniors attended classes on using mobile applications for daily activities and exploring ChatGPT.

Direct engagement of the target groups
The InterGenic project continues to bring generations together, establishing meaningful connections through digital education. Recently, we held two pilot workshops - one in Spain and one in Austria - where young people guided seniors through essential digital skills, proving once again that learning has no age limit.
Overcoming Smartphone Struggles: The First Meeting in Austria
Meanwhile, in Graz, Austria, InterAktion held our first intergenerational meeting, where youth assisted seniors with the everyday obstacles they faced when using their smartphones. From adjusting font sizes to navigating menus and optimizing battery life by disabling unnecessary GPS and cookies tracking, the session focused on practical skills that immediately made a difference in the seniors’ digital experience. More importantly, this gathering allowed us to listen to the seniors' needs, laying the groundwork for future workshops tailored to their interests and challenges. They hosted us and prepared a delicious meal as well.
What's Next?
As the days grow longer and the light gets better, we are also planning a photography and video workshop using smartphones, encouraging seniors to capture and share their stories visually with better quality. This will help them in the creation of local initiatives for Green and Digital sustainability actions, that will aid the EU Green and Digital Transition.
The InterGenic project is not just about teaching digital skills - it’s about establishing a basis for mutual learning, connection, and empowerment across generations. With each workshop, we’re breaking down barriers and proving that technology is a bridge, not a divide.
Phones, Social Media and Emails for Seniors in Cyprus
On February 5th, we kicked off the first pilot session of the InterGenic project with an interactive intergenerational exchange. Youth participants stepped up as digital mentors, helping seniors navigate their smartphones, manage social media, and send emails—small but impactful skills that boosted their confidence in the digital world. At the same time, seniors shared their expertise, passing down traditional sustainable practices, from energy-saving tips to clever problem-solving techniques rooted in experience. The session wasn’t just about learning new skills; it was about building connections, exchanging perspectives, and creating a space where both generations felt empowered.
