On March 19, 2025, the University of Limassol proudly took part in the flagship event of the European Climate Pact, titled “Together in Action 2025.” Organized by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Climate Action (DG CLIMA), the event was held in Brussels and brought together a diverse range of stakeholders committed to driving forward Europe’s green transition. This annual gathering serves as a platform for climate advocates, educators, policymakers, youth organizations, and community leaders to exchange ideas, forge new collaborations, and showcase impactful initiatives that support the EU Green Deal and climate neutrality goals.
As a key partner of the InterGenic project, the University of Limassol (UoL) used the opportunity to present the project as a good practice in climate action and intergenerational learning. InterGenic, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme, aims to foster collaboration between different generations to tackle today’s most pressing challenges—especially those linked to climate and digital transitions. By creating a space for mutual learning between younger and older generations, the project not only promotes inclusion but also encourages active citizenship and lifelong learning in support of the European Green Deal.
At the event, UoL highlighted how the InterGenic project bridges the gap between generations through digital storytelling, local workshops, and educational campaigns that promote sustainable lifestyles and community engagement. The project’s emphasis on participation, education, and digital tools aligns closely with the goals of the European Climate Pact, which seeks to involve citizens at all levels in climate action.
The participation of UoL in “Together in Action 2025” underlined the relevance of educational institutions in leading community-driven responses to climate change. By presenting InterGenic to a wide European audience, UoL contributed to a growing network of good practices and showcased how Erasmus+ projects can be instrumental in achieving long-term environmental and societal goals.
